It’s Q4 2025. The stock market is tumbling further and further in to the red. People are speculating that the tech bubble is bursting and, in turn, others are fear mongering and forecasting financial crisis. I’m not convinced about this and I’m not particularly worried either. Read on to find out why I’m at easy with the current economic catastrophe and discover the one job AI can’t replace.
AI IS TAKING OUR JOBS!
A hot topic lately is the advancements in AI. People seem particularly transfixed on OpenAI, Chat GPT and Gemini. How AI will “revolutionise” work FOREVER. This is the classic and age old tactic of media outlets when they don’t understand new technologies. I still see many industry “professionals” who completely fail to understand what Blockchain technology is and its future in society. This is also a long known tactic of big media to control the stock market.
This is strangely amusing. It highlights how easy society is steered. Like a farmer, dog and his sheep. The unrefined eye falls for it every time. Hook, line, and sinker.
Although AI is re-shaping some industries and it may replace humans in certain capacity, the technology and its implementation is not there yet. As an example, look at the adoption gap between horse and cart to automobiles.

The One Job AI Can’t Replace
There is an old saying; magic is believe to be the oldest profession known to man. Only contested by one other profession.
Whilst this may or may not be true, what we do know is that magicians are dated back to ancient Egypt. Carved in to the walls of pyramids, “magic” has seemingly been a human idea for a very, very long time.
The fact that magic and magicians are still here, working away creating little miracles thousands of years later is proof enough that we will still be here thousands of years from now, too. However, there’s more than meets the eye as to why that is.
No matter how advanced AI becomes, no matter how immersive the augmented reality is, humans will always yearn for the human experience. The more we as humans become detached, whether that be fixed to a computer screen in an office cubicle, trading desk, mobile phone or tablet – we will always require an activity outside of that digital footprint.
Que magic tricks. Magic tricks are one of the last remaining art forms in the world that simply cannot be experienced through a screen. Sure, you can watch magic tricks on a screen but as a professional magician of 15 years, I can tell you with absolute certainty, it is not the same. A screen removes everything that is “magic” about magic.
Magic tricks are a truly human experience. An experience of something seemingly impossible that transcends language, age, culture and religion. There is absolutely nothing in the world that provides an experience equal to a good magic trick.
Why AI Can’t Replace This One Job
It’s my belief that AI will never be able to replace the job of a good magician. A good magic trick is incredibly complex. It relies on:
- Dynamic adaptation to the situation.
- Understanding of psychology.
- Improvisation.
- Strict timing and choreography.
- Instantaneous collaboration.
- Human connection.
The list goes on and on, but I will stop there. For the above reasons I tend to avoid performing magic with mobile phones at events. Everyone knows technology is capable of so much now. When a phone is introduced in to a magic trick, I think most people instantly understand it is an accomplice to the magician in some way.
Performing sleight of hand, on the other hand….with minute adjustments based on lighting, height, sound etc…AI is just never going to be able to replace this kinaesthetic experience. Perhaps one day. Not in the lifetime of anyone alive today at least.
The One Job AI Can’t Replace (That You Should Utilise)
In summary of this blog post I would like to make a few suggestions. I’ve been magician to the British Royal Family on numerous occasions, been invited to perform to millions of people on national television and provided service for thousands of clients with over 25 years of experience. So I hope that you know, these suggestions come from a solid foundation.
- Hire a good, reputable magician in your area for your next party.
- Bring on a magician as a brand ambassador.
- Look at ways to integrate magic in to your life (work and personal)
- Buy tickets to a magic show.
- Consider hiring a magician for your wedding.
These are just some of the ways magic and magicians can enrich your life in an analogue, deeply personal way that AI simply will never be able to. Magic is therapy. Magic is substance. Magic is mystery. The greatest exploration is that of the impossible.
